Flooring abatement

Facilities is planning to do some flooring abatement. Here is the current schedule:

· Winter break 2008 – hallways, stairwells and room 009. Nothing that should effect IT.

· Summer 2009 – Possible floor abatement in rooms 121, 224, 225 and 322. Facilities wants to push this out to Winter 2009 if possible and then leave the rooms unoccupied.
o All equipment and furniture will need to be removed from the rooms, including SIWS units
o Room 322 is currently being used as a computer lab for the Rockville Physics Department

· FIP will continue to monitor the tentative schedule for changes.

Ray and Steve to do walkthru in the new year to identify IT closets and other issues affecting the renovation project..

Design phase

Negotiations are under way with Burt Hill, Inc., the architect team, for design services.

Design is expected to start early in calendar year 2009. Design starts with the Program Verification Phase (Jan – Mar), then Schematic Design Phase (Mar – May), followed by Design Development Phase (Jun – Nov), Construction Document Phase, and Bidding Phase, with the Construction Phase planned to start summer 2010 (fiscal year 2011). These are estimates of the design schedule.
